The Identity for VDLM heavily utilises materiality to align the branding with their focus on physical inspiration and design references. Based on the Brand Idea 'Collecting, Curating, Transforming', I've created a Visual Identity for them that incorporates found imagery, transparency and classic typography with an experimental edge.
'Graphic Research for Designers' is a booklet that serves both as a Mission Statement for the Library - detailing the importance of physical references - and as a guide for new members which suggests methods to Collect, Curate, and Transform these references into new ideas.
This is also included in the Research Starter Kit - given to new library members. There is a selection of items that will remove barriers from research in order to encourage continued use of the Library's services.
Visual Design Library Melbourne also aims to extend their mission outside of the local community with a strong social media presence and an informative website. By publishing and promoting their catalogue, VDLM is hoping to garner a nation-wide user base with a view to expand into more Australian cities.
